Master Chemical
Corporation was founded by Clyde A. Sluhan in 1951.
Headquartered
in Perrysburg, Ohio, with offices, laboratories and production facilities internationally in the United Kingdom and Asia, Master
Chemical pioneered high quality wetting-agent metalworking fluids and
has consistently been a world leader in the scientific research and
development of cutting and grinding fluids. In recent years Master Chemical
has added rust preventatives and aqueous cleaners to expand its line
of fluid products. |
| From its
earliest beginnings, Master Chemical has been committed to the safety
of the machine operators who use its products and to the protection of
the environment. Master Chemical was the first fluids company to develop
a system of coolant management. Using its patented XYBEX® fluid
maintenance systems, Master Chemical promotes the recycling of its fluids,
and Master Chemical's philosophy not only protects the environment, but
also provides significant cost savings to the customer. |

| Clyde A. Sluhan founded Master Chemical Corporation not simply as a business for the sake of making profit but as a company dedicated to the improvement of manufacturing productivity to benefit mankind with a higher standard of living at an ever lower cost. He believed that he was put on the earth not to "pursue happiness", but to help others, and in the words of philosopher Leo Rosten, "to have it make some difference that (he) lived at all." Clyde A. Sluhan, who died in November 1997 lived his life to the fullest and served God and the industry with his entire being. |

An extension of Clyde's belief, that he was to help others, is Master Chemical's commitment to education and training. Master Chemical has a seminar center in Ohio where, through lectures, demonstrations and multi-media presentations, it educates both its customers and employees to the highest standards. Its two-day IFS course is accredited by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Additionally, Master Chemical offers various levels of skills-based training programs customized to your particular needs. On-site seminars can be held at your facility, maximizing your employee's training time.
The story of Master Chemical Corporation has been captured in the memoirs of Clyde A. Sluhan entitled "The Courage of His Convictions", published in 1999. It is a story of scientific discovery and both moral and ethical character. |
